You feel stuck. Life feels hard all the time and you don’t know how to make things better. You manage to get through each day, but it’s exhausting. From the outside, your life looks pretty good and others think you have it together, but the truth is you’re stressed and overwhelmed most of the time. Maybe you’re not sure exactly what is wrong – you may wonder if your emotions are connected to something in the past because sometimes they just don’t seem to make any sense. You try to take care of yourself and do “all the things” – meditating, exercising, reading the self-help books, etc. and while all of that helps to some extent, it feels like a bandaid and the relief is never long-lasting. Maybe you’ve even tried therapy before, but it just wasn’t enough. You don’t want to feel like this forever. You want to start feeling better now.
Alana Jaeck, Brainspotting Therapist in Seattle. Specializing in Anxiety, Life Transitions, Relationship Issues, and Grief.
Hi, my name is Alana (she/her). I’m a Brainspotting Therapist in Seattle and I’m so glad you’re here.
I help adults who feel stuck in their lives to find a new way forward so they can feel more alive, connected, and whole. Many of my clients start to experience relief after their first few Brainspotting sessions and often express they wish they had known about it sooner. They start to notice that life doesn’t feel so hard all the time. They begin to trust themselves more, they feel less triggered, and their relationships improve. They start to feel like their true self.

Brainspotting is a powerful process that can help you to get unstuck even if you’re not sure what’s blocking you or holding you back. By finding eye positions, or Brainspots, that are linked to stuck emotions, we can access the brain in a way that allows you to process trauma or other difficult experiences. Brainspotting helps to regulate your nervous system and harnesses the brain’s natural ability to heal, and it usually takes less time than traditional talk therapy.

FAQs About Brainspotting Seattle
-
Brainspotting is a brain-body based therapy that uses eye positions (i.e. brainspots) that are linked to experiences or emotions. Through Brainspotting we can bypass the logical brain to access the emotional brain, which allows one to process trauma or stuck emotions. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting does not require that you talk at length about your difficult experiences and often people experience relief in less time. Even if you’re not sure exactly what is wrong or what is blocking you, Brainspotting can help you get unstuck. And while it doesn’t change what happened to you, it does have the power to change how you feel about it.

Brainspotting is effective for a wide range of people including those struggling with trauma, anxiety, attachment issues, and grief. It can also be helpful for people who have a more general feeling of being “stuck” in their lives, or for those looking to improve focus and concentration. Whether you’ve tried talk therapy before and found that it wasn’t enough, or this is your first time seeking therapy, Brainspotting may be a good option for you.

There are many similarities between EMDR and Brainspotting and both are highly effective therapies for resolving trauma and other issues. There are some differences in the techniques — EMDR using bilateral stimulation (e.g. eye movements), whereas Brainspotting uses fixed eye positions. Brainspotting is relational and is generally more client-led and less structured than EMDR. As a therapist, I chose to get trained in Brainspotting in part because it was incredibly helpful for me as a client and I personally found it more effective than EMDR. Ultimately it depends on the individual and their unique needs as to which will be a better fit.

My standard fee for a 50-minute session is $200. Extended sessions may be available. Many of my clients utilize their insurance benefits to cover the cost of therapy — if you have a PPO plan then it may be possible for you to seek reimbursement. I am happy to discuss this with you further during our consultation.
